The Mindful Sanctuary is an independent private psychology practice. The Mindful Sanctuary is run by me, Dr Parneet Chahal.

I am a Counselling Psychologist who is chartered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the United Kingdom. I am also a member of the BPS Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors (RAPPS) and EuroPsych

I hold a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and an MEd in Psychology of Education from the University of Manchester, a MSc in Counselling Psychology from Keele University, and a BA in Psychology from Pune University.

My approach to therapy is integrative. This means that I drawn upon several models to make sure we develop a shared understanding of your difficulties from a lens that makes sense to you, and develop a therapy plan that helps you meet your goals and needs meaningfully. I focus on helping you improve the quality of your life and relationships. I believe that the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the client and therapist plays a significant role in facilitating change. I aim to provide a safe and compassionate space to help my clients work work through their difficulties to make lasting and enduring changes. 

Since qualifying as a Chartered & Practitioner Psychologist in 2014, I have worked within the National Health Service (NHS) in England. Prior to that, I worked as a qualified Counsellor within voluntary sector services and schools. I am currently working within the NHS and independently in my private practice in London and online. I am experienced in working with a range of emotional and mental health problems, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationships difficulties and trauma. I work with individuals across the full age range (i.e. children, young people, and adults), parents or carers, groups, and professional networks. I am experienced in working with clients with neuro-developmental differences such as Autism Spectrum Condition and Learning Disabilities. I offer short and long term therapy. I can work using structured approaches like CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), CFT (Compassion Focused Therapy), or more relational approaches like PCT (Person Centred Therapy), or Psychodynamic Therapy.
